The English baritone Jeremy Carpenter was educated at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. His 2013 season included Sharpless in Madama Butterfly at Grand Théàtre de Genève and the role of Sir Robert Cecil in Brittens Gloriana at ROH Covent Garden in London. In 2014, he returned to ROH Covent Garden to sing Guglielmo Cecil in Donizettis Maria Stuarda. 2015 includeD the roles of The Protector at the Scandinavian premiere of George Benjamin’s Written on Skin at The Royal Opera, Stockholm and Germont in La Traviata at Folkoperan, Stockholm. This season brings him back to The Royal Opera in Stockholm to sing Chou En-lai in John Adam's Nixon in China and Danilo in Léhars The Merry Widow. 2017 Jeremy makes his debut at The Bolshoi Theatre as The Protector in Katie Mitchell's original production of Written on Skin.
Jeremy’s repertoire includes Il Conte, Le Nozze di Figaro, Guglielmo, Cosi fan tutte, Marcello, La Bohème, Lescaut, Manon Lescaut, Demetrius, Midsummer Night’s dream, Falke, Die Fledermaus, the title roles in Don Giovanni and Gianni Schicchi at houses such as Glyndebourne, Opera de Paris, Opera de Lille, Grange Park Opera and Theater St Gallen. In his new homeland he has sung at The Royal Opera, Stockholm, Malmö Opera, Ulriksdals Slottsteater and Folkoperan.
During the season 2009/2010 Jeremy had an enormous success when he returned to Folkoperan as Zurga in Bizet’s Les Pêcheurs des Pêrles. He also appeared as Marullo in Riogoletto at Opera de Dijon. Autumn 2010 he sang the role of Carlo Gérard at The Royal Opera in Stockholm, a role for which he received critical acclaim. More recent seasons have included Belcore in L’elisir d’amore at Nantes/Angers Opera, Escamillo in Carmen at both Malmö Opera and The Royal Opera Stockholm as well as Talpa in a concert version of Puccini’s Il tabarro with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchester under the baton of Daniel Harding.
Jeremy’s concert repertoire includes Brahm’s Requiem and Liebesliederwaltzer, Fauré’s and Mozart’s Requiems, Orff’s Carmina Burana, Vaughn-William’s Sea Symphony which he performed in 2014 with the Huddersfield Choral Society. He will make his debut in Belgium with the same piece in 2015 under the lead of Martyn Brabbins and the Royal Flemish Philharmonic. He also sant Bauer in Schönberg's Gurre - Lieder at the closing concert of the 2015 Baltic Sea Festival with Essa Pekka Salonen conducting, and appeared as The Doctor in Pelleas et Melisande with Daniel Harding and the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra. 2016 he shares the concert platform of The Grunewaldsalen, Konsrthuset, Stockholm with Miah Persson and Magnus Svenssonn in a concert of Shakespeare and Goethe songs.
