Jeremy Carpenter is so diabolical as Judge Turpin that you just sit there longing for Todd to slit his throat only on the next moment to be frightened by your bloodthirstyness.

Philippe/Prima Donna - Royal Swedish Opera 2020

Jeremy Carpenter’s distinct and expressive baritone constantly delivers a beneficial energy and passion in a show that a little too often gets stuck in a lethargic and fatefull melancholy. Carpenter’s Butler ,Philippe, is actually the only character that goes through a palpable development from a devote and authoritarian controlling servant  in an attempt to free himself from the fading diva.
